Our Story

Mamie’s Magick Shoppe is a black-owned metaphysical marketplace for divination tools and supplies founded by Aniyyah Boone. Our shop offers crystals, incense, sage, herbs, tarot cards, candles, jewelry, t-shirts and more. Our goal is to provide the necessary products that offer spiritual healing through ancestral lines.

The shop was named after Aniyyah’s great grandmother (Mamie Ruth Cook Boone), whom she believes to be one of the ancestors that walks this very life with her. Some years after Mamie’s death, Aniyyah became drawn to spirituality and finding her life’s purpose. It was during this time that she discovered her love for healing crystals, tarot and spiritual candles. She became fully vested after watching a pick-a-card tarot reading on YouTube which explained that an ancestor had been passing along spiritual gifts from the other side. These gifts were described to take place in the confines of their own home amongst very few family members.

At the time, Aniyyah was so sure that this relative was one from her father’s Haitian side of the family, since they are very keen to spirituality. However, after months of practicing her spirituality openly, relatives of Aniyyah’s African American side began to come forward to tell stories of her great grandmother Mamie doing the exact same practices. One particular family member whom Aniyyah is very close to was triggered by the smell of florida water, sage and the appearance of candles. This person, as well as,others confirmed that they remember the exact same scents but could not pinpoint exactly what they were until recently.

This was all the confirmation that Aniyyah needed to know that her great grandmother was right by her side. She learned that they shared the same interests in divination tools and spiritual supplies. It is said that Mamie frequently lit candles and said prayers to protect her family from harm and invite abundance into their lives. With that being said, it is evident that Mamie worked her magick for benevolent purposes only and her great granddaughter is following in her footsteps.

“I would like to share Mamie’s essence with the world so that my customers will be inspired to connect with their ancestors for healing purposes and self-discovery. This shop will also serve as an example that magick can be used for good and be the very thing that can add to spiritual growth. Magick performed by black people has such a negative connotation but Mamie’s Magick Shoppe will prove otherwise.” -Aniyyah
